Play Tennis Day

A black and white photograph of a group of people in early 20th century dress in front of a tennis net in the yard of an elaborately trimmed house.

This photo graph of the Aurora Tennis Club (2002.19.435) was captured in 1913 on the north lawn of Hillary House.

When tennis first came to Aurora during the late 1880s it was regularly played on the Hillary House lawn. By 1912, there was also a lawn tennis court on Victoria Street – just east of Trinity Anglican Church.
